再婚したい？ 【Stingに寄せて】

　オモテの臨時「イギリス」特集つながりで、Stingの2013年のミュージカル『The Last Ship』を想いだしてしまったのでこちらでご紹介。ただし、よく考えてみるとこの部屋のテーマにもぴったしの「大事な」話題でした。

　2013年というと７年前、Sting（本名：ゴードン・サムナー氏）が62歳。ちょうど今の私の年齢でした。約10年間アルバム制作から遠ざかっていたStingがこの年出したのは自身の故郷（造船の街）を舞台にした物語風のアルバム「The Last Ship」。そして後にこれがミュージカル作品になります。ルームシェア時代の友人 “文子さん” に絶賛されDVDも貰っちゃったのでしっかり観ました。

　それ以前からもちろんStingは知っていましたし、CDも一枚所有（『ブルー・タートルの夢』 - The Dream of the Blue Turtles（1985）。ただし「のめり込んだ」のはこのThe Last Shipなのです。単なるロック・ミュージシャンという枠を大きく飛び越えて、ホンモノの「ソングライター」としての才能を魅せつけられました。　とにかく「詩」が素晴らしいのです。なかでも好きなのが『Practical Arrangement』というデュエット曲、女性ボーカルJo Lawryとのかけあいが素晴らしく切ない動画を後ほどご紹介。

　60過ぎの再独身男、性格は悪くないしまぁ働き者。人付き合いもそこそこできてるし特に不自由はない暮らし。でも何かが足りない。友達はそれなりに居て、程よい距離感で付き合う女性も居る。そんな ”アーサー” が年の離れたシングルマザーの女性に恋心をいだく。彼らはいい友達付き合いをして、彼女の息子とも仲良しで遊んであげてる。　と、アーサーはこんな歌をうたう。（画像は Jo Lawry のセリフ）
